5 Tips to An Organized Bedroom

Your bedroom is one of the most used rooms in your house. It is your sanctuary and the place you retreat after a long day, yet often the bedroom becomes one of the messiest rooms in the house.  Shoes are kicked off day after day creating a cluttered mess, clothes take over the space after one night of not deciding on an outfit, and hair supplies are in every drawer and cubby. It is understandable how the bedroom turns into this nightmare, but it is possible to turn this bad habit around, and create an organized and beautiful space for you to relax in.  It is important to value what your bedroom does for you, and keep it as organized as possible. If you transition your thoughts from thinking the bedroom is just another room in the house, to thinking of it as an escape and relaxing sanctuary it will help you maintain control of the clutter.

Try out these 5 tips to keep your bedroom organized and beautiful:

1.) BEFORE YOU GO TO BED:
  • Every night take a few minutes to put everything away. You may not completely finish your entire room, but that’s ok.

  • Your goal is to begin forming a habit of tidying up every night before bed. This will prevent your bedroom from turning into chaos.

2.) CREATE SYSTEMS:
  • Your room will stay organized if you have systems in place. Take the time to figure out what is in need of a new system. If everything has a designated space, then it will be much easier for you to maintain your bedroom’s organization. Systems are key!

3.) DECOR:
  • Your bedroom is the place that allows you to rest your mind and body at night, or during the day for naps! Naps are always great! Have fun with the decor in your room, and add little touches to make it calm, relaxing and beautiful.

  • Some great pieces to add to your bedroom are:
    • a beautiful frame
    • a candle to light by your nightstand
    • flowers
    • a cozy throw blanket
    • a positive saying

4.) NIGHTSTAND ROUTINE:
  • Your nightstand should be simple, clean, and organized. Make sure your nightstand only has a few things on top. An example would be a small light, a candle, and your favorite book.

  • Your nightstand is the last thing you see before you put out the light, turn over and go to bed. It is important that you go to bed with a clear mind. The best way to ensure your mind is at peace before bed is a clutter free nightstand.

5.) SUNDAY CLEANING:
  • Pick a day ( I like Sundays!) to do a thorough cleaning and day of organizing. Since the goal is to do a little each day during the week, you will not be overwhelmed on the weekend during your organizing day. This day allows you to dedicate a larger chunk of time to dust, sort, and organize. It makes the room extra perfect for the week ahead!
